VICTORIA – Only about one percent of B.C. property owners appealed their 2026 property assessments.
“For 2026, we achieved yet again a very low appeal rate, maintaining our status as a leading assessment organization with consistently high acceptance rates when compared to most other property assessment jurisdictions across North America," says BC Assessment Assessor Bryan Murao. “Our low level of appeal rates speaks to BC Assessment's transparency and consistency in providing fair and accurate property assessments while providing the public with easy access to information used to determine assessment values."
Year over year, more than 98 percent of property owners consistently accept their property assessments without filing an appeal.
A total of 23,892 property assessments, or about one percent, of all properties in British Columbia were appealed for 2026:

The deadline to appeal 2026 property assessments was February 2. Independent Property Assessment Review Panels met to consider appeals between early February and March 13, 2026. After revisions by the Property Assessment Review Panels, the final total assessed value of all B.C. properties is approximately $2.75 trillion for 2026.
