VICTORIA – BC Assessment announces the appointment of Sylvia Bishop as the new Chair of the BC Assessment Board of Directors.

Ms. Bishop served two terms as a Delta city councillor, and was chair or vice chair of many advisory committees including: Community Planning and Development, Parks, Recreation and Culture, Heritage, Seniors, and a member of the Finance committee. During her tenure, she also served as the council liaison to REACH The Youth and Child Development Centre helping fund raise for a $5 million capital campaign. A former assistant director of the BC Teachers Federation, Sylvia worked in the Campaigns and Communications department and was liaison to all education stakeholders including parents, school trustees and superintendents. In addition, she worked with a four-person team to produce communications geared for a variety of audiences in a variety of formats.
Governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the provincial government, BC Assessment is a Crown Corporation that serves as B.C.'s trusted, go-to provider of property assessments. It collects, monitors, and analyzes data throughout the year and provides property assessment as per the Assessment Act for over two million properties across the province.
